The Epoch Everlasting Play company has issued a recall of all its Calico Critters Line. The recall was reportedly prompted by two deaths. Both involved the toy line and its accessories.
The Calico Critters line featured plush animal figures and sets. These were also sold with accessories like a bottle and pacifier. The accessories can pose a choking hazard to young children.
There were three reported choking incidents involving the pacifier. Two of those incidents were fatal. The reports one of the fatal incidents involved a two-year-old in Mexico. This happened back in 2018. The second report involved a nine-month-old infant in Japan. The case happened in 2015.
What are the Affected Products?
The Epoch recall encompasses all the Calico Critters animal figures. It also includes sets with pacifiers and milk bottle accessories. The milk bottle accessories came in yellow, pink, and orange. One bottle style had two handles. Meanwhile, the pacifiers also came in the same colors. The accessories also came in blue, teal, and dark pink.
The figures and accessories were reportedly made in China. They were later sold at Walter, Meijer, and many other stores across the country. The products were also sold online at Amazon and the Calico Critters website. They were available from January 2000 to December 2021.
