IKEA US has issued a recall involving around 40,000 of its LETTAN mirrors. The items were then sold in the United States and Canada.
IKEA reported that the mirror’s plastic fittings can break. They are always attached to the wall. A break will cause the mirror to fall. The shards of glass can pose a laceration risk.
The home furnishings company has received 55 incident reports from around the world. There was one report of the mirror falling in the US.
What is the Affected Product?
IKEA is recalling LETTAN flat mirrors of all sizes. The mirror has a frameless design. It has a height of around 38 inches. The mirrors came in four widths. Consumers could choose from 23, 31, 39, and 47 inches.
The LETTAN mirrors have a date stamp located at the back. It has a YYWW format. The first two digits represent the year. The last two represent the manufacturing week.
The mirrors are Swiss-made. They were then sold at IKEA stores all around the US. It was also offered at IKEA.com from December 2019 up to October 2022.
What Should Consumers Do?
IKEA has advised customers to stop using the LETTAN mirrors. They should contact the company to order a replacement set of wall fittings. This will come with instructions and are free of charge.
