Reckitt recalled two batches of Prosobee 12.9 oz Plant-Based Infant Formula. According to the company, there is a possibility of cross-contamination with Cronobacter sakazakii. Cronobacter sakazakii is a pathogen that can survive in arid environments. According to CDC, this bacteria is deadly in infants. They are usually found in dry foods like infant formula and powdered milk.
The recalled infant formula is in 12.9 oz containers. The company manufactured them between August 2022 and September 2022. Reckitt distributed these products through retail stores nationwide in three countries. These are the U.S., Guam, and Puerto Rico.
Customers can identify the two batches by the number found on the bottom of the can. Take note that the recalled product batches are ZL2HZF and ZL2HZZ. You can find a UPC Code of 300871214415 and a “Use By Date” of “1 Mar 2024” in both of the batches.
Reckitt says they commit themselves to the highest level of quality and safety. Their commitment is the reason they chose to recall their products. This is despite their products tested negative for Cronobacter and other bacteria.
Moreover, the company assures that this is an isolated situation. After their investigation, the company was able to identify the root cause. According to them, it is due to material from a third party. Reckitt further assures that they already took all appropriate corrective actions. This includes no longer sourcing this material from the supplier.
