Around 866,000 units of AirJet and HydroJet spa pumps have been recalled. The US CPSC and Bestway (Hong Kong) International Ltd. announced the recall. The problematic pumps were a fire hazard.
The AirJet and HydroJet pumps were under the brand names SaluSpa and Coleman. They were also sold under the Hydro-Force brand.
The spa pumps were sold online with spa liners through various retailers. Companies like Amazon, Costco, and Walmart carried them. The pumps cost anywhere from $400 to $790. They were on the market between May 2021 and May 2024.
What Caused the Recall?
The CPSC and Bestway (Hong Kong) International Ltd. recalled the spa pumps following reports of a fire that resulted in a fatality. Other incidents of fire caused property damage.
Bestway (Hong Kong) International warned that the spa pumps can overheat. This can cause the plastic housing to catch fire.
There have been three reported fires. A house fire in Kansas City, Missouri, in January resulted in a fatality. Another incident of a fire caused by the spa pump ended in significant property damage.
Seven more incidents are being investigated. There were no injuries from those cases.

The brand names were on the side of the spa liner. The company name “Bestway” and the model number are on the pump’s label.
What Can Consumers Do?
Owners of the recalled spa pumps can have their units replaced. They are also eligible for a partial refund.
BestWay is offering owners a $100 refund for AirJet spa pumps. They’re also refunding the HydroJet spa pumps for $189.
