ALDI’s vegetable recall in July appears more serious than expected. The US Food and Drug Administration escalated the recall to Class 1. This is the FDA’s highest safety threat level.
A Class I recall highlights the severity of the issue. It means the use of or exposure to a product could result in severe health consequences. The exposure could even become fatal.
Understanding the Problem
The Class 1 recall involved jalapenos, green peppers, and green beans sent to ALDI. Inspectors say the products might have Listeria.
RS Hanline and Company, Inc. are the listed distributors of the produce. They sent the contaminated vegetables to various ALDI stores. The recalled vegetables were reportedly sent to stores in Illinois, Kentucky, and Michigan. Stores in New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania also received the vegetables. Stores in Virginia and West Virginia were also sent the produce.
Three of the recalled vegetables came from Freshaire Farms. It’s a known trademark of ALDI. The recalled products involved the following:

Steps Consumers Can Take
Customers who have purchased any recalled products must discard them. They can also return the vegetables to their local store. They will receive a full refund for the products.
