The Harley Davidson Motor Company has issued a voluntary recall of its popular motorcycles. The company reported a fastener that secures the rear shock absorber could break. The company says 65,310 motorcycles might become affected by the issue.
One report detailed that a broken fastener could result in a damaged rear tire. This is due to the shock absorber adjuster. It could then cause a loss of tire pressure. This increases the risk of a crash due to a loss of vehicle control.
The company says riders and passengers should watch out for any strange noises. These might appear to be coming from beneath the seat. The rider can check by removing their seat. A shock adjuster that looks loose can be a sign of a damaged fastener. A shock adjuster that has made contact with the rear tire might show unusual tire wear. Riders might also notice something unusual in their handling of the motorcycle.
