Michelin has announced a voluntary recall of its Agilis Cross Climate C-Metric tires. The snow tires have DOT codes 0117 to 1423. The company estimates 542,110 units of snow tires are now affected by the recall.
The Agilis C-Metric tires are reportedly sold as snow tires. But the company reports the tires don’t have enough traction. It cannot perform in all-snow weather conditions.
Michelin explained that the initial testing used the wrong tire pressure. The company discovered the problem after further tests.
The tires have the Alpine symbol. It shows three mountain peaks. This signals that the tires work well in snow. They’re not classified as snow tires though.
