Dodge Durango SUVs with the model years 2021 to 2023 are being recalled by Chrysler. The company expects to recall about 139,019 units of the model. It’s an expansion of a previous recall made back in 2021.
The new recall covers the models from three years. The 2023 model is also expected to be the last year of the SUV’s production. The last year for this generation will see the return of the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. The model will come with a supercharged 710-hp V8 and a rear spoiler.
Reasons for the Recall
Chrysler announced that they’re recalling the models due to a rear spoiler defect. There’s a possibility the car’s rear spoiler is not aligned with the roof. The spoiler can brush against the roof when the liftgate’s opened. As the tailgate opens and closes, the spoiler can become loose. It could end up detaching from the unit’s roof. It’s dangerous if the spoiler loosens while the car is moving. It will become a road hazard to drivers and commuters. It will also increase the risk of accidents.
Steps to Take
Dodge Durango owners and passengers should pay attention to any noise coming from the car’s rear. A rattling sound when the SUV is in motion could mean a loose spoiler. Double-check that the roof spoiler isn’t slapping or brushing against the roof.
You must visit the nearest Dodge dealer if you believe that your car’s rear spoiler has problems. The dealer will check it and replace the spoiler if needed. This service is free of charge.
Dodge car owners will receive a notification by mail about the issue. It’s expected to arrive by April 14, 2023.Owners can also contact Chrysler’s customer service number at 1-800-853-1403. Check the recall page at https://www.chrysler.com/iq/en/shopping-tools/check-recall.html.
