Stellantis has announced a recall of over 62,900 Alfa Romeo vehicles in the US. The company decided due to a safety issue involving the rearview camera system. The recall affects both the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV from the model years 2020 through 2025.
Getting to the Bottom of the Problem
Stellantis said that the issue is caused by flaws in the printed circuit board (PCB). The software that runs the rearview cameras is also having problems. The automaker said the defects could cause images to appear inverted, blank, black, or blue.
A malfunctioning camera display can reduce rear visibility to a high degree. It increases the risk of accidents while reversing.
Recalling the vehicles ensures compliance with federal safety standards. Regulations demand that rearview images are clear and accurate. This must happen whenever the driver shifts the vehicle into reverse.
What Affected Owners Can Do
Stellantis is advising Giulia and Stelvio owners to head to the nearest dealership. To correct the issue, Stellantis has ordered dealers to inspect and repair the PCB. They should also update the rearview camera software where necessary. These services are all free of charge. Owners are not required to pay for parts or labor related to this recall.
Stellantis is also set to send out notification letters on November 25, 2025. The letters will inform customers of their next steps and the service availability. Vehicle owners can contact Stellantis at 800-853-1403. They can use the reference recall code A2C. Consumers can also reach out to the NHTSA at 888-327-4236. They can also visit www.nhtsa.gov to check their vehicle identification number. They can use their VIN to confirm whether their Giulia or Stelvio is part of the recall.
