TJX Companies is recalling their Anji Guotai office chairs. The company is doing a voluntary recall after reports of the chairs breaking.
TJX Companies received feedback that the back of some of the office chairs broke. Some detached from the seat base. There were 12 incidents of this happening when a consumer sat on the chair. This poses a fall hazard. The company also received ten reports that involved injuries. There were reports of people suffering from bruising, contusions, and numbness. One incident of concussion was also reported.
What to Look Out For
The recall involves almost 83,000 office chairs sold in the United States and Canada. The office chairs were then sold at HomeGoods and HomeSense. They were also available at Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. The items were in the market from June 2019 to December 2022.
The recalled office chairs come in various colors, ranging from white to floral. The chairs have rounded seats that have a metal stand. The chair’s back is a horizontal oval. The chair’s cushions come in faux leather, linen, or velvet.
The chairs had the following style numbers:
- GT646
- GT646A
- GT646AA
- GT646AB
- GT646AABO
The items also had “Made in China” and “Anji Goutai Furniture Co. Ltd” printed underneath the seat.
What to Do if You Bought One
Buyers must stop using the Guotai office chairs. They also have to get in touch with JTX. They can call the company’s toll-free number at (888) 359-4763. They can call any time from 7 AM to 6 PM CT, Mondays to Fridays. They will then receive instructions on how to dispose of the chairs. They need to do this to get a full refund.
Consumers also have the option of returning it to HomeGoods and HomeSense stores. Marshalls and T.J. Maxx will also accept recalled chairs.
