CaTeam has issued a voluntary recall of its canvas baby hammock swings. The swing was reportedly deemed hazardous because of its incline angle. The company expects around 700 units of the hammock to become affected by the recall.
Reports stated the company marketed the baby hammock for sleeping infants. But it has an incline angle higher than ten degrees. As stated in the Safe Sleep for Babies Act, an inclined sleeper is now a banned product.
An inclined sleeper is any product with a sleeping surface that’s over 10 degrees. It’s dangerous because many infant fatalities happen in this type of sleeper. The high incline angle can cause babies to roll from their back to their side or stomach. This can restrict their airways. Babies could also roll out of the hammock and become trapped under it.
There are no reported incidents or injuries related to CaTeam’s recalled hammock.
What are the Affected Products?
CaTeam is recalling infant hammock swings made of cloth and wood. The swing’s height settings are adjustable. The product comes in ivory, blue, pink, and various shades of gray. The hammock also came in ochre and green.
The hammock swings were all made in China. They were then sold online at Amazon and www.cateam.store. The baby hammocks went on sale from November 2022 to January 2023.
What Can Consumers Do?
CaTeam is advising consumers to stop using the recalled baby hammocks. They should also contact the company to get instructions on how to dispose of the swing. They will also get details on how to get a full refund.
Both CaTeam and Amazon are contacting all known owners of the hammock.
Consumers can also call CaTeam at (206) 607-8266. The company is open from 8 AM to 5 PM (ET), Mondays to Fridays. They can also send an e-mail to recall.cateam@gmail.com. They can also check https://cateam.store/pages/recall for more details.
