It’s a busy month for BMW. The vehicle manufacturer is in the middle of several recalls. The company recalled 720,000 vehicles earlier this month over a possible fire hazard.
Now BMW has announced two more recalls that can affect more than 13,000 cars.
What Is Happening?
The first of the two new recalls involves the MINI Hardtop 2 Door (Cooper SE). BMW says the recall will affect 12,535 vehicles from the model years 2020 – 2024. The company says there’s a possible issue with the models’ high-voltage battery. This could lead to a short circuit.
The German vehicle manufacturer is also recalling i4 eDrive40, xDrive40, and M50 vehicles. These are from their 2024 line. BMW says the cars might have a crack in the left-side longitudinal beam. This could compromise the structural integrity of the chassis. The company says this recall affects around 1,150 units.
What Can Consumers Do?
BMW is asking owners of the MINI Hardtop to head to their nearest dealership. Dealers will offer a free software update. The company is set to mail out owner notification letters by October 7, 2024.
