Russell Stover Chocolates announced it’s recalling its sugar-free peanut butter cups. This is a voluntary recall from the company. It’s due to the undeclared pecan in its Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Cup chocolate line.
The products in question might have Sugar Free Pecan Delights. This particular ingredient wasn’t listed on the label. The omission could cause people allergic or sensitive to the nut to have a severe reaction. So far, there are no incidents of allergic reactions or sickness due to the allergen.
The error was reportedly caused by a third-party packing company. Said company placed Pecan Delight items in the outer packaging of the Peanut Butter Cups. The inner packaging had no errors and identified the item as a Sugar-Free Pecan Delight. The product also looked different from the Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Cup.
