The Ford Motor Company has issued a recall of around 98,550 Ford Rangers with model years 2004 to 2006. The pickup trucks could’ve gotten a replacement for their front airbag inflators. The replaced airbag occurred during a previous recall.
The company said there could be issues with the airbag inflator replacement. The installation must have gone wrong. If this is the case, the airbag might not inflate when needed. Thus, increasing the odds of getting injured during an accident.
Ranger Models Affected by the Recall
The first thing you need to do is to look for your VIN or Vehicle Identification Number. It’s found on the dashboard behind the windshield or on the driver’s side door. Your registration documents will also have that information.
The following vehicles are also affected by the recall:
- Edge 2007 to 2010
- Fusion 2006 to 2012
- GT 2005 to 2006
- Mercury Milan 2006 to 2011
- Mustang 2005 to 2014
- Ranger 2004 to 2011
Get Yourself to a Dealer
The issue with the Takata airbag can affect one or both sides of the truck. In some models, the airbag on either the driver’s or passenger’s side had problems. In others, it’s both sides.
Owners of affected vehicle models should go to the nearest Ford Dealer. They should have the airbag repaired for free at an accredited dealer. You can also arrange for the dealer to do the repairs at your home or office. You can also request a pickup and return of the truck. You can also ask for a loaner vehicle for your use while your truck is with the dealer.
If you think your vehicle has this problem, call Ford’s customer service number at (866) 436-7332. The company’s number for this specific recall is 23S08.
