Paradise Grills has issued a voluntary recall of its First Generation Outdoor Kitchens. These are grills using Liquid Propane (LP) gas.
Paradise Grills explained that the LP gas can build up inside the cabinets and closed lid. This can cause an explosion when the grill is lit. The company declared the kitchen units as a burn and fire hazard.
Paradise Grills expects about 18,000 outdoor kitchens to become affected. There are already two incidents of the grill exploding and causing serious burns.
What are the Affected Models?
The recall affects the First Generation Outdoor Kitchen line. These are the models involved:
- GX-3 to GX 14
- Aruba 6
- Aruba 8
- Fiji
- Tahiti
- Tropicana
These models could have cabinets and sinks. Some come with refrigerators or provisions for one. They can also come with features like LED lighting and commercial grills. They could also have granite and other extra design options.
What Should Grill Owners Do?
Owners should first check if the recall affects their outdoor kitchen. They can find the model name on their sales agreement. Affected owners should stop using the recalled outdoor grills. They should also call Paradise Grills to receive a new stainless steel vent.
Consumers in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia should reach out to Paradise Grills ASAP. So should grill owners in Texas. They need to schedule a date to do free repairs. This includes a new vent and its installation.
Grill owners from other states should get in touch with the company. They will also receive a free vent and installation instructions. They will also become reimbursed for the installation cost. The company will need a copy of the installer’s billing statement. It should say “paid.”Consumers can also call Paradise Grills at (800) 604-2023 from 9 AM to 5 PM ET.
