Patagonia announced that it was recalling its Infant Capilene Midweight Set. The recall is due to a safety concern with the snaps of the set’s knitted bodysuit.
The bodysuit’s snaps could detach. This poses a choking hazard if a baby puts a snap in their mouth. Patagonia received one report of a snap detaching from the bodysuit’s shoulder. The infant wearing the suit was mouthing the snap before their caregiver removed it. The infant was not harmed.
What are the Affected Items?
The company expects to recall around 8,200 units of the Infant Capilene Midweight Set. The line has the style number 60910 and comes in sizes 0 to 24 months.
Each Midweight set comes with a long-sleeved bodysuit and pants. The bodysuit has snaps at the crotch and the left shoulder. The pants come with an elastic waistband. Both items are also made from knitted polyester.
Consumers can see the style number on a label sewn inside the garment. Sets for the Fall 2021 design have the label code STY60910FA21. The code for the Fall 2022 style is STY60910FA22.
The Capilene Midweight line came in five designs. The sets were reportedly manufactured in Sri Lanka. They were then sold at Patagonia and REI stores. They were also offered in different shops around the country. The infant clothing set was on sale from August 2021 to January 2023.
