Veoneer Brake Systems has issued a voluntary recall of its Brake Booster assemblies. The recalled service brake systems were reportedly used in certain Honda vehicles.
The company says the master brake cylinder could separate from the booster assembly. This could lead to the brake losing function. Any malfunction in the braking system increases the risk of vehicle crashes.
The company says the recall would impact 137,033 units of its booster assemblies.
What are the Affected Units?
Veoneer recalls brake booster assemblies with parts numbers:
- 4600A-TBA-A000
- 4600A-TBA-A100
- 4600A-TBF-A110
- 4600A-TG7-A500
- 4600A-TGS-A200
- 4600A-TYR-A100
Why Is It Recalled?
An NHTSA Safety Report says there’s an issue with the tie rod fastener. It might have become attached to the booster and master cylinder wrong. This problem could have happened during assembly. This can result in the brake master cylinder detaching from the booster assembly.
The report stated a detached brake master cylinder could lead to a brake function loss. This raises the risk of a crash or a motor vehicle collision. It could also result in other dangerous impact events. These crashes and collisions could cause serious injuries or life-altering changes. The worst-case scenario is fatalities.
