Vornado Air has issued a voluntary recall of its VH2 Whole Room Heaters. The company revealed that certain heater models are potential fire and electric hazards.
The Vornado recall affects around 7,780 units of the heater. The problematic units are the off-white VH2 Whole Room Heaters. Each heater had the “Vornado” logo on the front. It also has a red “V” printed behind the brand name.
Vornado announced the recall in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). It also serves as a good reminder of the risks all portable heaters carry. The CPSC has even shared several safety tips on its homepage.
Understanding the Problem
Vornado said the issue stems from a potential defect in the power cord. It could detach from the heater enclosure. This could lead to cord damage, raising the risk of electric shock and fire.
Consumers can identify the recalled units by a silver rating label found on the bottom of the heater. They also have the date codes “JUL24” and “AUG24.” You can also see “TYPE VH2” on the silver rating label.
Steps Consumers Should Take
Vornado is urging owners of the VH2 models to stop these heaters. They should also unplug the units from the power outlet.
The company is offering free replacements for all recalled heaters. The customers can visit the https://www.vornado.com/recalls/vh2 for more information. They should first confirm if their heater is part of the recalled units. They’ll also receive information on the free replacement.
Vornado heater owners can also call the company’s toll-free number at (844) 205-7978 between 8 AM to 5 PM CST. Consumers may email concerns to vh2recall@vornado.com. The subject line should be “VH2 Recall.”
