Empower Brands has issued a voluntary recall of its PowerXL Self-Cleaning Juicers.
The company said in a report that the juicers could rupture while in use. The shards can strike consumers and cause lacerations. The gadget could also leave tiny particle shavings in the juice. This poses an ingestion hazard.
The company says the issue affects around 490,000 of its self-cleaning juicers.
Empower Brands admits there have been 261 incident reports involving the self-cleaning juicers. These include 47 cases of injuries. There were also cases involving severe cuts that needed emergency treatment or stitches. There were also reports of customers ingesting small particles. These led to their needing medical attention.
What are the Affected Products?
The Empower Brand recall affects the PowerXL Models SHL96 and SHL90-SC. Both models are Self-Cleaning Juicers.
The countertop-style juicer’s brushed stainless steel. It has an integrated automatic shut-off system. You can find the PowerXL logo on the juicer’s front.
The SHL96 model carries the UPC code 7-52356-83067-0. It’s printed on the bottom of the device. The SHL90-SC juicer has a UPS code of 7-52356-83138-7. It’s printed on the back of the juicer.
The SHL90-SC model was available at Walmart and other stores around the country. It was also sold online at www.walmart.com. The SHL96 model was also offered at BJ’s Wholesale Club, CVS, and Kohl’s. Stores like Marshall’s, Target, and T.J. Maxx. It was also sold on www.amazon.com from September 2020 to August 2022.
