Hyundai Motor America has initiated a recall that impacts 32,594 Genesis vehicles. The automobile manufacturer said there was a software issue. This could cause the instrument panel displays to flicker or remain blank.
The malfunction is worrying as it can prevent drivers from viewing critical information. Drivers won’t see their speed, fuel levels, and other warning indicators. The lack of information increases the risk of accidents.
This is the second time the South Korean company has had this issue. Kia recalled over 14,000 EV9 SUVs in 2024. A glitch in the instrument panel software also caused the screen to go blank. Hyundai has a stake in Kia. Genesis is Hyundai’s high-end line.
Hyundai received 454 complaints from drivers about inoperable instrument panels. The company hasn’t received any reports of injuries or crashes caused by the issue.

- 2023 – 2024 Genesis G80 sedans
- 2023 – 2024 Genesis GV80 SUVs
- 2025 Genesis GV70 SUVs
- 2023 – 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 SUV
What Can Consumers Do?
Hyundai Motors is advising Genesis owners to head to the nearest dealership. Dealers will provide a complimentary software update for the instrument panel display. Owners have to bring in their vehicles as Hyundai can’t send the update over the air.
The company is set to send out owner notification letters by April 20, 2025.
