Land Rover announced it is recalling around 12,922 units of its latest Range Rovers. The company said the rear taillight link of the 2022 – 2023 models might carry some damage. This can result in a failure of the exterior vehicle lights to illuminate. The lights in question include the rear light, the taillights, and the brake lights. The turn signals could also become affected by the probable damage.
The exterior lights failing to illuminate will result in a decrease in visibility. The risk of the vehicle becoming involved in a crash then becomes higher.
The Range Rover recall is also part of a massive recall by the NHTSA. The agency has commenced recalls of around 99,000 Kia Sportage SUVs. It’s also recalling more than 96,000 Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid vehicles.
The latest Range Rover vehicle rolled out to great fanfare last year. The luxury SUV started off with some very positive reviews. Car enthusiasts loved the finish and trimmings of Land Rover’s new SUV. But it appears the model is now riddled with issues.
The issue with the exterior lights is the newest. The model was first recalled for problems with its seat frame. The second-row seats were reportedly not welded well. This can become hazardous in a crash. The seating could move forwards and upwards. This increases the risk of injury.
What Can Consumers Do?
Land Rover is advising vehicle owners to head to the nearest licensed dealer. They will inspect the exterior lights. They will also replace or repair the affected lights if needed. The service is free of charge.
The company is set to send owner notification letters by July 28, 2023.
