Lidl USA has issued a recall of its popular Tapas Cocktail Shrimp. The ready-to-eat shrimp are only sold in Lidl supermarkets.
The company recalled the brand due to a possible Listeria contamination. A routine test revealed that the items contained bacteria. The company performs regular tests on its products. It’s to ensure each one meets Lidl’s high standards. The test also ensures each product is safe to eat.
Food contaminated with the Listeria bacteria doesn’t smell or look spoiled. But it can still lead to serious infections. There are instances of the bacteria being life-threatening. It can also cause stillbirths or miscarriages.
Nausea, vomiting, and severe headache are some of the symptoms of a Listeria infection. It also includes persistent fever, muscle aches, and a stiff neck. Lidl has not received any reports of consumers being ill. There are also no complaints filed to date.
What are the Affected Products?
The product in question is the 7 oz. package of Tapas Cocktail Shrimp by Lidl. It has a UPC of 4056489411499. All the product codes still on the market are also included in the recall.
The shrimp cocktails were reportedly sold at all Lidl stores. The company has outlets in the Columbia District, Delaware, and Georgia. Lidl stores in Maryland, New Jersey, and New York also carried the Tapas shrimp. The brand was also sold in North and South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Lidl has already stopped production of the Tapas shrimp. It also ceased the distribution of the brand as the investigation continues. The FDA is also working with the company to resolve this problem.

Consumers who bought the product should not eat it. They should bring it to the nearest Lindl chain to receive a full refund.
