Mercedes-Benz has issued a voluntary recall of vehicles from the model years 2021 to 2021. The company expects around 143,551 units will become affected by the recall.
The company said there’s an issue with the fuel pump impeller. It appears the component doesn’t meet specifications on material characteristics. This could cause the impeller to become deformed. It could result in mechanical resistance if it contacts the fuel pump housing. The fuel pump might then shut down and cause a loss of drive power. The loss of power increases the risk of a vehicle crashing.
