Mercedes-Benz has issued a voluntary recall of around 8,000 units of its new model vehicles. The company is recalling the EQS 450 and EQS 580 with model year 2022. It has also included the Maybach S 580 and Maybach S 680 vehicles with model year 2023. The S 580e vehicles are also recalled.
What is the Issue?
The company reported that the electronic stability program (ESP) software might malfunction. This could cause the vehicle dynamics control systems to become disabled. The issue could affect the anti-lock brake system. It can cause problems with the acceleration slip regulation and electronic stability program. It could also result in issues with the electronic brake force distribution. It can also cause the vehicle speed display to fail.
A disabled vehicle dynamics control system can be dangerous. Its failure and that of the vehicle speed display increase the risk of the vehicle crashing.
This is the company’s second recall of the EQS model. Certain EQS and EQE vehicles were also recalled due to an issue with the battery warning system. Some models do not alert drivers of a battery problem. This means the vehicles do not follow federal regulations.
The defective warning system isn’t an immediate safety risk. But it could cause more serious problems later on.
