Do you own a Subaru Solterra? You might want to take your Subaru car off the road. That’s because Subaru is recalling over 1,000 2023 Solterra EVs due to issues of their wheels falling off.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall alert. According to the report, the recall affects 1,182 Solterra electric vehicles. These cars were among those that needed the replacement of original hub bolts.
In June 2022, the OEM issued a recall for the same issue on 403 Solterras in the United States. Subaru stated that the wheel hub bolts can loosen to the point where the wheel can detach from the car.
NHTSA said wheel detachment while driving can result in loss of vehicle control. This can increase the risk of a crash.
Subaru, for its part, said teams did not do a proper complete repair procedure. Thus, resulting in the possibility of improper tightening of hub bolts.
Subaru recalled all cars repaired at all port locations. In particular, a third-party contractor is supporting the ports. The company added that the cars without the original hub bolt concern are not affected. The same for vehicles repaired at other facilities.
